CYO Volleyball

Vollyeball sign-up will continue through Monday, August 18. Open to girls in grades 5 - 8. Sign-up at the table in front of the Religious Educaiton Office. Be sure to take a player's packet, that has all the information you need.

Michigan Catholic Radio - 1090AM

Our pastor, Fr. Stephen Rooney will be featured on Michigan Catholic Radio's (1090AM ) "View from the Pew" on Sunday, August 31 at 6:00 pm or Tuesday, September 2, at 9:30 am for a lively interview with 1090AM's host  Elaine Babbish. The discussion puts the spotlight on some geography as we learn how the Archdiocese of Detroit was initially established. Don't miss this opportunity to get to know a bit about Father Rooney,and some of his insights about being new. Focus on Life Benefit Dinner

Fr. Frank Pavone is coming to Monroe!  Please join us for the 2008 Monroe County Right to Life Focus on Life Benefit Dinner; 16 October 2008; Time: Social Hour 6-7pm; Dinner Program 7-9pm; Location: LaRoy's Hall, 12375 South Telegraph Road LaSalle, MI. 2008 has become a critical year for our state and our nation, your presence and support will make a powerful statement that says, "We are a nation that loves all human life!"  This year we are honored to have as our keynote speaker, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director for Priests for Life.  Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Dr. Monica Migliorino Miller, Director for Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. Religious Ed Registration is going on now!

Registration for 2008-09 is going on now. Beginning next year, grades 1-8 will be held Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Stop by the Religious Education Office soon if you need a particular night, as many classes are already full. For more information, click here

 Grief Support - September 13, 10:00 am

For those experiencing the loss of a loved one, our Grief Support group meets the second Saturday of each month. Come be with others who share the loss you are experiencing. This is a casual group of people who have experienced a loss. You are not forced to share your feelings, just come and experience the healing of others who care. The next meeting is Saturday, August 9, at 10:00 am in the parish conference room.

God Works!

A God Works! community meal is served at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm. Anyone experiencing a need for a free meal are welcome to come - no questions asked, no strings attached!

To volunteer for God Works! call the RSVP Office at 850-6042.

Parish Council

The first meeting of our Parish Pastoral Council is scheduled for Monday, September 8, at 7:00 pm in the parish hall. All parish members are invited to attend.

Automated Giving

We offer automated giving for those interested in having their Sunday offering directly debited from a checking or savings account.  Debits are made on the 15th of each month. If you are interested in this service, call Jane at the Parish Office, 734-847-2805 ext. 10, or click here for an authorization form.

The Parish Office is open Monday thru Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Liturgy of the Word for Children, takes place during the 11:00 Mass during the school year (Sept - May). Currently on break for the summer, watch for information when this special ministry will begin in the fall. Enjoy the blessings of summer!

If still have not picked up your envelopes or if you are in need of envelopes, please call or stop by the Parish Office, 734.847.2805.

Funeral Luncheon Committee

We have five funeral luncheon committees that handle the food, set-up and clean-up for luncheons for our registered parish members. These committees are always open to new volunteers. How can you help? If you are available days, you could join one of the committees as a worker. If you would prefer to donate a dish on occasion, you could submit your name for our calling list. Depending on the number of funerals, you are only called for a dish a few times a year. If you need to drop off a dish early, or even the night before, we can accommodate most any situation... to volunteer for this important ministry, call or e-mail the Parish Office. Eucharistic Adoration - Fridays

Eucharistic Adoration is observed every Friday from 9:00 am until 5:15 p.m. Benediction begins at 5:15 p.m. followed by Mass at 5:30 pm.

Bible Study

You are always welcome to join our Thursday morning Bible study. They meet in our parish library after Mass on Thursday mornings (9:45 am).... bring your Bible!

Anointing of the Sick - Sundays

Anointing of the Sick is offered every Sunday after the 11:00 Mass. Anyone in need of any type of healing is invited to attend and receive this special blessing. For information, call the Parish Office, 847-2805.

Baptisms

Baptism is usually held the first Sunday of the month. Parents anticipating a Baptism must make arrangements in advance. Please call Hazel at 847-2805 ext. 13 to schedule your baptism or for further information.

OLMC Parish Library

The Parish Library, located in Room 1 of the school is a great resource for all parishioners. We have Catholic books, periodicals, DVDs, CDs, videos, and tape casettes. The material covers a wide range of faith-based topics. There is no charge - never a late fee... we ask you to simply check out materials and return them when you are finished. Our goal is to enrich your spiritual and family life.

OLMC Kids' Choir

The OLMC Kid's Choir is for students in grades 3 to 7. Rehearsals are from 4:00 - 5:15 pm the first three Saturdays of the month, and we sing at one the Masses once a month. The last Saturday of the month the kids take a break, and then the cycle starts again. All children who like to sing are invited to participate. Call Helen, 847-2805, ext. 15 for more details.

Catholic Men's Fellowship - "Men of the Lighthouse"

Men of the Lighthouse, formerly called Catholic Men's Fellowship, meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in our library at 7:30 pm. Click here to learn more about this group.

TAG for Teens - Jr. and Sr. High Students

Sr. High School students are invited and encouraged to join TAG - Teens Associated with God. We meet each Tuesday evening from 7:30 - 9:30 pm. We offer Christian youth fellowship, service project opportunities, and faith development in a fun-filled environment.

Jr. High School students are invited to join TAG, Jr. We meet the first and third Thursdays of each month, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Come make new friends and experience Christian fellowship in a fun-filled environment. Parents are invited to participate, too. Call Kelly at 847-2805 for more information.
