The staff and volunteers of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Religious Education Program are dedicated to collaborating with parents and guardians in leading their children to Christ. We strive to teach the Catholic Faith handed down by the Apostles. The goal of Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Religious Education Program is to come to know and understand the Blessed Trinity as well as learning to develop a relationship with Jesus by encountering Him in Scripture and Sacred Tradition.

We have some exciting changes happening in our program for next year. Grades 1-5 will have the opportunity to attend RE classes on Sunday mornings, between the morning Masses or Monday night. Sunday class will begin at 9:30am and go until 10:45. Monday classes will begin at 5:30pm and conclude at 6:45pm. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, our 4- 5 year old program, will follow the schedule of Grades 1-5 at this time.
With the addition of Sunday morning RE classes, we will be eliminating Sunday evening and Tuesday evening classes.
Beginning this fall, all 6th - 8th grades will be attending an RE program called Edge. Edge will be held on Sunday nights following our new 6:00pm Sunday Mass. It replaces the traditional classroom model with a much more engaging program that helps our youth to cultivate a faith filled life and relationship with Jesus.
We know that this is a big change, and we are extremely excited for it. We strongly believe that Edge will provide our young people with an engaging learning experience that they will want to come back to. We ask for your prayers as we begin this undertaking.
A Parent Meeting will be held during class time for all 5th- 7th grade parents on March 24, 25, & 26. Our Youth Minister, Curtis Schuelke will introduce Edge and we will answer any questions 5th -7th grade parents may have about our new program.
Confirmation Preparation will remain the same. Every other Thursday evening, 8th graders will meet in the Parish Hall, with their sponsor or other adult, to prepare for this final sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Church.
We look forward to this next year and hope these changes encourage our youth to build and increase their love for Jesus and to know His love for us.
Yours In Christ Jesus,
Director of RE and Faith Formation
