So much in our lives has changed. Even the way we do simple things like:
opening a door, greeting each other, walking down an aisle in a store, going to a restaurant,
buying groceries and the list goes on. Even the way we worship and the way we teach our
children about the faith has changed.
But we are reminded of one of the many things that hasn't and never will change.
Romans 8:28; "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good
to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Perhaps loosely translated: When life gives humanity lemons...God will take them
and make lemonade!...and share its goodness with all.
So, OLMC has decided to do "Lemonade Catechesis!" We have decided to use a Home
Study Program which combines printed material and remote learning. This will be for Grades 1-
5. We will use Edge in a tailored way (no in-person sessions) for Grades 6-8. Parents, you have
been training to be your "child's first and primary catechists (CCC 2223) since before they were born.
You got this!
Each grade will be assigned a support person/catechist who will stay in touch with the family,
will answer your questions, send a weekly newsletter, and remind families of important
dates/events. Complete details will be given as our start date of October 4 draws near.
In addition with this change to a Home Study Program there is also a significant change in the
cost that we will pass along to all families.
The costs are as follows:
$30 for 1 child
$60 for 2 children
$90 for 3 or more children.
Sacrament Materiels Fees remain the same:
$50 Confirmation, incl. retreat (each child)
$30 First Reconciliation and First Eucharist (each child)
These are trying times. But if we gather the lemons we have been dealt with the intention of
"offering them up", the Lord will do wonderful and amazing things! Romans 8:28 tells us we can
trust in this!
